I started doing CrossFit in February of 2015 although my boyfriend had tried to get me to start since like 2008. It took me a long time to work up the nerve to try it because I was terrified. I was super intimidated and worried that I wouldn’t be able to do any of the workouts. I had dealt with being overweight all my life. I also had been dealing with a long battle with depression after losing my father in 2007. On top of all that I had a scary reality check when I lost my cousin to breast cancer at the age of 34 (who was super healthy and took care of herself). In February 2015 at the age of 34, I had the realization that enough was enough and I had to start taking care of myself. One of the first things that my friends and I experienced at CrossFit KADA that would seal the deal for us was meeting Darin (owner/head coach). Darin instantly walked up to us and introduced himself and was just so eager to make us feel at home. After my first class there, with Darin coaching I knew that I had found my new home. He has a way of coaching that isn’t intimidating and is very helpful in working within your comfort zone but also pushing you to achieve your goals. He has an amazing way of breaking down all of the movements to make it easier to understand. KADA was a breath of fresh air. We had quality coaching, quality equipment, smaller class sizes, a convenient class schedule and also a friendly and fun environment. Since starting at KADA in May of 2016, I have achieved so many personal records and have made so many improvements to my self-esteem and most of all the gains I can see in my body and my performance. If you would have told me a few years ago that I would be deadlifting 255 lbs. and squatting 165 lbs. I probably would have laughed. I have gotten stronger and feel amazing. With CrossFit no matter what level you are, whether you are a beginner or are an experienced athlete, whether you weigh 100 lbs. or weigh 300 lbs., whether you have an injury or physical limitations there is always a way. Every workout has a scaled option to accommodate your abilities. Darin is a great coach and always finds the perfect options for you. We all have to start at the beginning so don’t feel bad when you can’t lift a 15 lb. or 35 lb. barbell when you first start out just know that with hard work, a great set of coaches and the support of the KADA family you will be hitting personal records and achieving your goals! Darin and KD (his wife and co-owner) have been amazing to work with. They make sure to stay in touch with all of the members and have done great things to make the KADA box the best it can be. The members are all super friendly and are very supportive. I am happy to be a part of the KADA family and I hope that you can also call KADA your home.
